Hiking with children in the Krimmler Achental valley

Discover the mountains together

The Krimmler Ache Valley is a lovely, gently sloping valley with numerous alpine pastures, alpine meadows, some very flat, gently flowing stretches of the Krimmler Ache, streams, and interesting boulders near the trail, which provide great vantage points for children.

The Route:
Up to the valley entrance, the trail over the Krimml Waterfalls (normal walking time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes) is very steep. For smaller children who are no longer being carried or pushed, the climb over the waterfalls is relatively strenuous. Therefore, if necessary, take a taxi and take the National Park Taxi to the top of the Krimml Waterfall.

From the entrance to the Achental Valley to the end of the valley, a well-maintained, graveled alpine path runs level to moderately uphill past alpine pastures and meadows where cows and goats graze, as well as high mountain forests with pine stands.
